How to crop or pad an image
- Upload the image — it displays at fit-size, but cropping uses full resolution.
- Crop mode: drag the box, resize from the edges, pick a fixed ratio or circle for avatars.
- Pad mode: enter the target canvas size and a background — white, black, transparent or any color. The image fits centered.
- Download as PNG or JPG. Circle crops and transparent padding always save as PNG.
Crop vs pad — when to use which
Crop
Cut away distractions, reframe to a platform ratio, or cut a square into a circular avatar.
Pad
Extend the canvas outward so a non-matching image fills a slot — product shots to 1:1, portraits to 16:9.
Transparent pad
Transparent padding keeps PNG alpha so the padded image composites cleanly on any background.
Frequently asked questions
How do I crop an image?
Upload, then drag a box on the preview — corners and edges adjust freely; picking a ratio locks the box proportions.
How do I crop a circle avatar?
Pick “Circle” mode, position the box, export — you get a circular PNG with transparent corners, ready as an avatar.
What is padding mode?
The reverse of cropping — the canvas expands and the image gets white or transparent margins. Use it to square off portraits or add borders.
What if my ratio is not listed?
Pick “Custom” and type exact pixel dimensions.
Does cropping hurt quality?
PNG export is lossless — cropping trims the frame, it does not recompress the kept area.
Are images uploaded?
No — cropping and padding run locally in your browser.
