Good to know about HEIC conversion
Runs fully offline
The decoder is a WebAssembly build of libheif running in a web worker. Once the page is loaded you can go offline — photos never touch a server.
Live Photos & bursts
A Live Photo or multi-frame HEIC exports the still frame you see in Photos. The motion part stays behind.
Large photos take a moment
12MP+ HEIC files decode in a few seconds each. The queue processes photos one by one so the page stays responsive.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I open my iPhone photos on Windows or websites?
Newer iPhones save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container). Windows, many browsers and a lot of upload forms cannot decode it. Converting to JPG or PNG makes the photos open everywhere — this tool does that conversion right in your browser.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Decoding runs entirely on your device with a WebAssembly version of libheif inside a web worker. Photos are never uploaded, stored or sent to any third party.
How do I convert HEIC to JPG?
Drop or pick your .heic photos, choose JPG or PNG output, and each file converts automatically. Download them one by one or as a single ZIP.
What happens to Live Photos and bursts?
Live Photos and multi-frame HEIC files export the still frame — the still image you see in the Photos app. The video part of a Live Photo is not converted.
Should I pick JPG or PNG?
JPG for everyday photos — smallest files and accepted everywhere. PNG when you need lossless pixels for editing, at the cost of much bigger files.
Is the converter free and does it keep quality?
Free with no sign-up or watermark. JPG output keeps a high quality level by default and you can lower it with the slider for smaller files. Some shooting metadata is not carried over by the browser decoder.
