Load a GIF and set a target — the tool searches parameters automatically.
How the search works
- Pass 1 — optimize. Lossless structure first; if that meets the target, done.
- Pass 2 — lossy & colors. Rising lossy values and fewer colors until under target.
- Pass 3 — scale. Only if quality trade-offs aren't enough does it shrink dimensions.
- Honest result. If the floor is hit before the target, you get the smallest file plus a clear "not reached" note — never a fake success.
Frequently asked questions
What if the target can't be reached?
The tool returns the smallest result it could achieve, clearly flagged as missed — it never reports an oversized file as success and never flattens the animation to a still image.
How bad does quality get at tiny targets?
The more extreme the target, the more visible the trade-off: color and quality first, then downscaling. The preview shows what each pass costs.
How large a file is supported?
Up to 50MB per GIF. Very long or large animations take more search passes — you can cancel any time.
Are files uploaded?
No — every compression pass runs locally in your browser.
